it’s past tense because they don’t matter.

Friends of Dinlas

she couldn’t see the abyss through iron, she just wanted to get back home.

shattered faces and slithering tongues, seeing both sides of the world is the curse of a heterochromia heart,

jaded in one eye, crushed in the other; the shield of metal on her forearm more arm than shield,

it’s just drowning silently, with a smile, they coaxed, open arms with razorblade embraces,

they named it the call of the void, she remembered

and wondered what it would look like on the other side

What The Sea Has Wrought by Ashley Gallaher-Pollard

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fantastic debut collection from a superb poet.

I loved this. I intended to only read a few at a time, but ended reading the whole thing in one sitting. Then I went back and have been re-reading and savoring each piece at my leisure.

I rarely give 5 stars, a 4 star review from me means a very enjoyable book. One reason I will, is when a debut offering is just so good. This is one of those cases. Pick it up, and enjoy it as much as I did.
